“Cheick Omar fuses urban RnB and soul with just the right amount of French Hip
Hop attitude creating a fresh blend that keeps you bobbing”.
Born in the Republic of Guinea, Cheick Omar found an interest in music in his
early years. As a teenager, he created a local music group in the city of
Conakry and was quickly able to gather a following large enough to get him on
stage with some of Africa’s biggest and most respected talents. The group went
on to open for Salif Keita, Youssou N’Dour and Sekouba Bambino.
In 2001, Cheick moved to the U.S and for the following years, put his music on
the back burner. In 2007, his passion was immediately re-ignited by anger and
frustration after political unrest led to a massacre on the streets of his home
town, Conakry. Between January and February of 2007, too many innocent lives
were taken after what should have been a peaceful demonstration.
Currently, Cheick is working on his official debut album to be released later in
the year.
