FIFI SOUMAH 2009

FIFI SOUMAH 2009

To all my Guinean sisters, African sisters, and all women around the world!

I  believe that each and every one of us are in this world for a purpose. One person cannot do everything, but everybody can do a little bit so that when our forces join together, our world becomes a better place to live in.

There is so much we can do to make a difference. I believe that we have a responsibility as citizens of the world to help those that are less fortunate and contribute to the common good. I feel this so strongly that it has been a longstanding practice of mine to support nonprofit organizations such as “Help and Save Africa“, “Project 2005″ which help underprivileged children further their education in AfricaI also actively take part in the philanthropic work that Nimba Entertainment Inc., (founder of Miss Guinea North America) has been doing as part of their effort to bring change to the republic of Guinea by schooling young Guinean girls that are less fortunate and that might not otherwise go to school because their families can’t afford it. Through NIMBA, we also work to campaign againstfemale genital mutilation in Guinea, which is still heavily practiced in various parts of Africa.

As the reigning Miss Guinea USA/North America

I have also taken part in various community services in the Washington Metropolitan area. One that I cherished most is when I spent a day in Baltimore to do volunteer work with a non-profit organization called “My Sister’s Place” last Christmas, where I was able to provide food and clothing to needy women and also serve lunch for them while helping the cooks in the kitchen as well. It was a great experience for me and I learned that what we take for granted, others do not!!!
To date, my pageant organization and myself have been able to collect more than $5, 000.00 worth of used and new clothing that will be sent to Guinea this December to help the most in need. I will be competing in July 2010 for the title of Miss Africa USA as the representative from Guinea.
I hope you join us at Miss Guinee North America  as we are on a journey to represent and showcase our heritage, culture, intelligence and most importantly our beautiful country: The Republic of Guinea.

I hope to see you at Miss Guinee NA 2010 as I pass on the torch to the next Miss Guinee North America Queen.

Much love to you all and God Bless.

Fatoumata Soumah,

Reigning Miss Guinee NA 2009
